December 2, 2008

Today we had our iBASE meeting and we decided after some discussion to do a talk about relationships. We talked about practical things such as the importance of shared values, shared vision, and a strong friendship before deciding to date a person. We also talked about what the bbl has to say about relationships. There were so many questions that we ran over 2 hours and didn't get home until midnight! The idea that physical attraction and lovey feelings aren't the basis for a good longlasting marriage was shocking to many of them. They were also surprised to hear that living together and having sex don't help you to determine if a person is good marriagable material. Anyway it was a great talk, and they were such attentive listeners. We've not been married all that long compared to so many of our friends who have 55 or 60 years of experience, but we were able to share what little we've learned in our 4 and a half years. It was a good time and fruitful because several people were there who weren't followers of JC, and they were interested in what the bbl says about all of this just the same as everyone else.

Talk about a tiring evening though. :)
