The move is all done, though I haven't had much time to do anything this week except pack, load, drive, unload for about 6 days running!! I really should have just hired a mover. Instead it took over 7 days, not to mention prepping the Windsor Road house for end of tenancy. Glad that's all over with, though I will miss the old place a bit. I have to say though I'd miss it a lot more if I wasn't happily situated in a lovely apartment off the back of my friends' parents' house in Haddenham (had-en-mh) where I look out onto an acre of grass surrounded by hedges with the fens beyond all green like a quilt. :) It seems a lovely quiet village, the air is very fresh and clean, and its overall just what I needed. "Truly He has cast my lot in a goodly heritage." :) Nelly moved well, and has been exploring!
I went into Ely (Eel-y) which is the closest biggish town to here, smaller than Cambridge but dominated by an enormous cathedral. I've been to the cathedral many times but never much in town. So far I love Ely- it's like a British version of a smaller Ann Arbor. I know I'll enjoy going there all the time. I've been looking for poppy fields to photo as they are iconically British, I'll upload a few photos once I find a field.
My place is currently looking like a bomb site so I'm spending the long weekend unpacking more. I've been pr-ing for you all, especially those who are ill and suffering. Miss you very much, and I'm so blessed by you all. It means a lot to me that you haven't forgotten us though we moved nearly 4 years ago!

May 21, 2011 Finally moved!
It has been an exhausting week- I've spent every day packing and moving. Very good exercise. The new place is in a village called Haddenham, about a 20 minute drive from Cambridge. Its on a biggish hill, and since its all marsh land around it its an important historical site. There are Roman ruins 100 yards away (under a parking lot) and its interesting to think of Romans living and working right here where I'm sitting! I wonder what will be here in 2000 more years.
The moving was so difficult that like many things you feel glad for it to be over though you felt a bit sad when you began. Moving is a hard thing, but from the first night I felt so much better out in the countryside that I don't think I'll regret being away from the city. I'm a country girl, not city folk, and it is so much nicer here already! Nelly loves the space to wander and explore, though she didn't enjoy moving. :)
We have had great sunny days here, really good weather overall! I hope back home it has been nice too. :)

I started packing today finally! It's one of those things that for me just has to start when the time is right. :) I've been sorting and going through stuff as Z packed for Taiwan which helped a ton, and now I finished going through loads of papers and stuff. I should have a relatively quiet day for packing tomorrow, and now that I've made a start I should make fast progress. I'm aiming for 90% packed tomorrow.
Please pr for Nelly- it may seem an odd request, but she's a rather sensitive little soul and she's already been very nervous with M staying and doing so much packing, and when I was away last she was very anxious while Z packed. Last night she pooped on the sofa right in front of us all, and a few days ago she pooped at the bottom of the stairs- she's never done that before. As she gets older and more nervous the moving is harder for her. Pr for me to be extra sensitive to her unusual behavior and understanding, and to take time out to sit with her for cuddles. :) I don't know many people who pr for their cats, but I know that Gd loves all His creatures and honors our good caretaking of them!
Right its bedtime here- packing tomorrow!

Human dignity
I'm sure you all heard that bin Laden was killed this week. I have been shocked, appauled at the Superbowl style celebrations carrying on back home. I am all for justice, and I think justice was served in his being killed. As an FBI most wanted a trial is not required, and he need not be armed. That aside, what I disliked is the partying. He was a misguided and very dangerous man, but still a man with family- wives, sons, a mother, daughters. I can't celebrate any man's death, and this partying smacks of a hangman's mob, of gloating and revenge.
Please remember to pr for his family- for his widows who will struggle to get by. For his children and grandchildren. For his mother. Pr that Gd will reveal JC in a uniquely powerful way to them and give them comfort and peace.

Royal Wedding-British for a Day
The Royal Wedding was an incredible experience! A few of us got up at 5am to catch the train into London and get a good seat in Trafalgar Square. If you saw the event on TV and saw the shot of Trafalgar Square then you saw me!!
I should explain that I am neither a royalist or republican. It's not my country, though we do share a very long history. So I take it as I find it and try to express a moderate opinion on cultural issues. The royal family serve as unique ambassadors of the UK and as such play an important role. Using their influence they add weight to many worthy causes, they connect the people with those who really have the power in this country, which is still the ruling class. The two boys, William and Harry, have grown up as sort of adopted orphans of the public, and seeing them come of age as grown men brings a general satisfaction. They are a new generation, like us, connected as no other generation has been. They set up tweeting, facebook, websites for this wedding, and as a result so many people saw it live.
In Trafalgar Square they asked people to dress as if attending a wedding- the weather was cold so most women opted for "fascinators", a sort of clip on wedding hat. Flags were everywhere, and Union Jack hats, glasses, and even cardboard cutout Will and Kate face masks!
The mood was unusually patriotic, jubilant and friendly. In the Square, under the shadow of Nelson's Column celebrating the victory at the Battle of Trafalgar, we had wedding programs and sang, read, stood and sat just as if we were at Westminster. We really felt we were wedding guests! As the end of the service approached, I was careful to read the lyrics to " God Save the Queen" and not tastelessly sing our own "Let Freedom Ring" which was written to the same tune. :) I waved my flags, cheered, ooo'd and ahhh'd with everyone else, and as I sang I felt very British and proud to celebrate such an exciting day alongside my British friends.
Strangely enough, it was as though we attended a friend's wedding. Will and Kate are 29, only 2 years younger than me. I was impressed with their writing their own prayer, and felt truly pleased for them both. :)
Of course lots of photos are waiting to be posted once I finish them off!
