The first month of 2010 has whizzed by- I can hardly believe it. G's off to Seattle today for a program committee meeting- I should say that he's really enjoying being able to travel for work, it's a real blessing to have the opportunity, and this time besides meeting with guys who are on the committee for this academic conference, he's also giving a talk on his work at University of Seattle. Or is it U of Vancouver? One of those anyway. :) And I don't really mind- Z and I were just saying how the time goes by so fast, it usually feels like he's just left the day before! I'm so thankful to have a housemate- it would be a lot lonelier if we lived on our own, but thankfully we don't. Nelly likes having a housemate too- she has 3 people to love her instead of just 2.
I've been chugging away at the massive amount of photos that I've gotten behind on over 3 weeks without a laptop. But I'm slowly catching up- I'm working alphabetically so that I don't notice exactly just how far behind I was chronologically...it's easy to lose heart when you get really far behind. I've added photos to facebook and phanfare so far- some will go up on my main website for people to download.
I have a big project on at the Abbey the next few weeks- photographing the pillars there in detail for them to use as research on why they are crumbling. A bit dry but interesting overall and a good connection for me businesswise. I've set up a Picasa account so that I can more easily add photos up here, I'll put one up.
We've had lots of parties going on of late- this was a birthday party for one of our iHUB leaders, we held it at an Asian restaurant in Cambridge. Lots of our Chinese friends came.
We recently rearranged our back living room- we mostly used it just for playing piano and the dining room table, but since we barely used the table and we have a fold out one instead, we got rid of it and some friends gave us a small TV to use for inviting people over to watch movies or football. We got free speakers as well, and picked up a cheap amplifier, and other friends gave us a DVD player so we are pretty well kitted out now!
2009 was the 800th anniversary of Cambridge University, and they had a big lights show on the buildings to signal the end of the 800 year. This is Kings College Chapel on the left, and the Wren Library on the right.
That's my camera, half in the hole that they excavated at the Abbey. And the pillar I'm photographing for them. There's another one just like it and they need it in high detail, so it's going to take awhile.
Taking apart the dining room table. We mostly just sit at the coffee table like we've done for years, so better to use the space more hospitably.
Oops- it rotated my image! Well at least I've been able to upload images more easily! I'll have lots more in the blogs to follow. This is the National Trust regional newsletter, and the top photo is one of mine! Woo!
It's almost midnight- G should be landing in Seattle about now, and I'm exhausted so time for bed!
