This morning the pump repair guy came and was able to fix the pump. Although we had a bit of scrambling around when he asked us where the cold water turn off was- we had no idea and neither did the landlord. :) But he was able to crawl up into our attic and turn it off up there. I asked him what it was like up there, and he said it was "a bit mucky." He knocked down what looked like the remnants of a bird nest (or mouse nest) that I had to vacuum up. We haven't seen any mice, or heard any, which is good. :)

Thankfully our heat is now working just fine. :)
