I'm a member of Smugmug, which is an online photo community for posting photos, hosting websites, and running small photo businesses. Today as I was looking through the development blog I found a link to some photos that were taken by a Smugmugger (that's what they call Smugmug members- I didn't make it up) who lives in Iowa. He has photos of the tornado, and the devastation to his town. I'd heard about the tornadoes, but not much, and so for me this really was eye opening at just how badly they were hit. His captions, with things like "My aunt's house" "Rusty's basement" "My parents' house" made it so much more real. He has about 240 images in his gallery, but it's worth clicking through the first 60 or 70 at least. His link is:

Smugmug has implemented what they are calling Smugvault, for Smugmug users to be able to archive their original photos somewhere, in honor of the Iowa tornado victims. Online photo communities can really make the world a smaller and more personal place.
