Flying into Tromso!

Tromso downtown

We got back very late from our outside the city excursion- we had an amazing time hiking around in the darkness and moonlight, eating dinner in a traditional Sami tent (which was very similar to a teepee) and playing with the sled dogs and their puppies. And of course watching for the aurora- we were so blessed to see an amazing aurora! It didn't last long but it was indeed beautiful. G is right now on his way to pick up a rental car (rental cars are too expensive on the weekend, but we managed to get an affordable one for a day) and our intention is to drive around the area outside of Tromso on the mainland (Tromso is an island) and see some fjords and whatever else we can manage to see in such a short time. I hope the car rental folks have a map- if not we'll be looking for one so we don't get lost. :) We would love to see the aurora again tonight, and since we can drive wherever we want we are hoping for some good backgrounds as well. Here are a few photos from last night:

Tromso city lights in orange, aurora in green. :)

Tromso Arctic Cathedral- the northernmost Cathedral in the world.
