These next few are being posted a few days late because we don't have internet at our new place yet.
Nelly survived her trip home from the cattery. She seemed to be having a good time there, and was staying in one of their bigger areas where they keep 5 or 6 cats. The cats were all friendly and just hanging out, sleeping or whatever. Nelly was curled up in this small box- I don't know how she managed to get in there. :) Anyway when we came in to pick her up she was sleeping, and was like "Hey it's you finally!" George picked her up and she wrapped her 2 front legs around his neck. :) Then he she wanted to come over to me and do the same thing. She's such a snuggle cat- I don't know where she learned to hug people, but she almost always does it especially when you first come home, or if she's done something she shouldn't have. The cattery worker was like "Aww, that's so cute!" Unfortunately she wasn't very happy in the cottage at first- she hid under the sofa for about an hour, and wouldn't come out, so we took turns sitting on the floor petting her head (which was the only part we could reach) and then after awhile made her come out.
People who have small children have like a 6th sense which tells them when something in the surroundings might potentially be harmful to their kids. I wish I had that. :) As soon as she was willing to leave the living room she went into the kitchen and straight under the cabinets- we didn't even see that there wasn't a board there, and of course there's rat poison and everything else under there. And Nelly wouldn't budge- she would not come out. After sweeping up most of the rat poison George managed to force her out using the broom, and we made sure she didn't have any poison on her, cleared the house of any other poisons, and went around the entire place to make sure there weren't any other potential hiding places like that.
She'll get used to the place I'm sure- until then we're keeping an eye on her.
